Legacy Healthcare Careers, a small trade school in the Fort Worth/Mid-Cities area suburb of North Richland Hills, now offers a brand new medical assistant training program with job placement assistance. The training program costs $3000.00 in tuition, which is an excellent deal when compared to the $15,000.00+ that similar schools charge their students. Call 682-626-5266 for more information.

The medical assistant training program is approximately 11 weeks in duration. Students spend the first six weeks of the program in the classroom as well as a return skills demonstration laboratory. During this first phase, students learn the theory and skills associated with the medical assisting profession, including the operations of the front and back office.

The last five weeks are spent in an intensive clinical practicum externship phase where they put their theoretical knowledge and skills into practical use at a healthcare setting such as a clinic, doctors office or skilled nursing facility. The clinical externship allows the medical assistant to obtain hands-on experience while providing care to real patients in real workplace settings.

Medical assistants are multi-faceted allied healthcare professionals who complete a variety of administrative and clinical duties. Throughout the course of a typical work day, a medical assistant performs data entry, rooming patients, vital sign collection, appointment scheduling, insurance billing, assisting with physical examinations, obtaining patients’ histories, and so much more.

The medical assistant training program at Legacy Healthcare Careers also teaches students additional healthcare skills such as phlebotomy (blood withdrawal), injections, electrocardiogram (EKG), specimen collection, office etiquette, and sterilization of instruments. Students who graduate from this training program will be trained and prepared to work in a variety of settings in the medical field.

The medical assistant program at Legacy Healthcare Careers is approved by the National Center for Competency Certification (NCCT). Therefore, graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the national examination to become a certified medical assistant. National certification as a medical assistant sets allied healthcare professionals apart from other candidates in the job market because one’s body of knowledge has been validated and proven through passing the certifying exam.

The instructors at Legacy Healthcare Careers have many years of experience in the medical field, as well as a deep sense of concern for the educational pathways upon which their students travel. At Legacy Healthcare Careers, each student’s success is viewed as each instructor’s success. Successful students make the journey of the founding instructors very much worth it.

Medical assisting is one of the most rapidly growing allied healthcare career pathways in the United States according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The various reasons for the explosive growth in medical assistant job openings include the rising number of healthcare facilities, population changes, and a steady supply of elderly individuals who will require hands-on care from allied healthcare professionals.

Legacy Healthcare Careers, a small family-owned school in the Mid Cities area of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, offers one of the few affordable medical assistant training programs in North Texas. Tuition and fees for the program amount to less than $2,000. This is extremely affordable when compared to other trade schools that charge $15,000 or more in tuition and fees.

The medical assistant role is multifaceted. Individuals who work as medical assistants tend to possess a wide repertoire of duties and skills to function at their places of employment.
